Travel to MIT
Established in 1861 in response to the Second Industrial Revolution, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is one of the world's leading institutions of higher education in technical and scientific fields. The 168-acre campus runs along the Charles River in Cambridge, MA, and has produced many scientists and entrepreneurs. A pamphlet distributed by the school asserts that, "The aggregated revenues of companies founded by MIT alumni would rank as the eleventh-largest economy in the world."
