Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations. We will begin this tour at the Chain Bridge, passing by the Hungarian Parliament Building on our way to the Buda side of the city. We will take a walk through the Castle District, we will see Matthias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion. Next, we will drive to Gellert Hill, the location of the Citadella, to see the most spectacular view of the city. Crossing the Elisabeth Bridge into Pest, we will see the famous Great Market Hall and the Dohany Street Synagogue. In City Park, we will pass the Szechenyi Medicinal Bath, which is the largest thermal spa in Europe, and the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Gardens. In Heroes Square, we will see statues of the most famous Hungarian kings and dukes. Then we will take Andrassy Avenue back to downtown Pest, passing the State Opera House and St. Stephen's Basilica, before the tour ends in the city center.

    Hungarian Parliament Building

    One of Europe's oldest legislative buildings, the seat of Hungary's National Assembly is an iconic landmark on the banks of the Danube River in Budapest. It is both the largest and tallest building in the country.

    Matthias Church

    Matthias Church
    This impressive and dramatic Gothic cathedral in Budapest was built in the late 1300s, although local tradition claims it dates back to the 12th century. It houses an Ecclesiastical-art museum that contains replicas of the Hungarian royal jewels.

    Fisherman's Bastion

    Fisherman's Bastion
    The Fisherman's Bastion on the Buda side of the Danube River in Hungary is an incredible white-stone viewing terrace with conical towers. It was built in the 1890s and gets its name from the fisherman's guild that once defended the area.

    Gellert Hill

    Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the amazing landscape with its imposing 19th century constriction. This prominent hillside in Budapest provides exquisite views of the city and both directions of the Danube River. In the present day, the area is an upscale neighborhood, and many foreign embassies keep their houses around the hill. Prepare your camera to the extraordinary scenery.

    Citadella

    This large fortress rests on the top of Gellert Hill, overlooking the Danube River. Built from 1851-54, the view from the top of the walls is stunning. During the Hungarian Revolution in the 1950s, Soviet troops occupied the fortress.

    Great Market Hall

    Designed and built around 1897, this is the largest indoor market in the city of Budapest. Countless stalls are spread across three floors, selling all kinds of food products, like meats, cheeses, spices, pastries, candies, and more.

    Dohany Street Synagogue

    Dohany Street Synagogue
    The largest synagogue in Europe, this structure was built in the mid-1800s in the Moorish revival style, though it also features influences from Byzantine, Romantic, and Gothic styles. The interior features golden frescoes and a large pipe organ.

    City Park

    This lovely little park in the heart of Budapest is a great place to go to have a picnic or people-watch. Inside the park is Vajdahunyad Castle, the Szechenyi Medicinal Baths, and the Municipal Zoological and Botanical Gardens.

    Szechenyi Medicinal Baths

    These relaxing, rejuvenating thermal baths are located in a beautiful building in Budapest's City Park. The water contains, sulfate, calcium, magnesium, and other minerals that are reported to have beneficial affects on joint pain and orthopedic conditions.

    Budapest Zoo and Botanical Gardens

    Located in City Park and featuring over 1,000 species of animals, the Budapest Zoo has been in operation since 1866. The zoo also includes a botanical garden, mixing elements of flora and fauna to create one must-see attraction.

    Heroes Square

    Heroes Square
    The centerpiece of this famous square in Budapest is a series of statues known as the Millennium Memorial. The statues are of the leaders of the nine tribes that founded Hungary as well as other historic Hungarian figures.

    State Opera House

    This magnificent and ornate neo-Renaissance building was opened in 1884 to house the city's opera and classical music performances. The famous composer Gustav Mahler served as the opera director from 1887-91.

    St. Stephen's Basilica

    St. Stephen's Basilica
    This neoclassical basilica in Budapest is named for Stephen, the first king of Hungary, whose hand is said to be buried in within the church. One of the three tallest buildings in the country, it's construction was completed in 1904.

Terms & Condition

  • Changes to Reservations: A fee may be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Name changes or corrections may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary will be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply.

    15 days or more prior to departure - no penalty
    8-14 days prior to departure - 50% of total purchase amount.
    Within 7 days prior to departure - 100% of total purchase amount.
    Day of departure or no show - 100% per person.
    Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.
    Trips require a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. We reserve the right to cancel a scheduled trip to fully refund affected customers although tour companies will make every effort to maintain normal operations.
    The refund amount will be credited directly to your TakeTours wallet as credits for future use. Or the refund can also be forwarded directly to your credit card with a 6% handling fee.
    NOTE: We cannot grant any refunds more than 30 days after completion of the tour.
