Day 1 Cuzco
Day 2 Cuzco - Lares - Wakawasi (14000m, 5 hours approx)
Day 3 Wakawasi - Patacancha (5562 km)
Day 4 Patacancha - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes (50 km)
Day 5 Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo - Cuzco (110 km)
Day 1:
Cuzco
Today we will gather in Cuzco, CUS, Peru. After making their way to the Milhouse Backpackers & Hotel and checking in, guests may spend the day however they choose. There is a mandatory pre-departure briefing today (please see in Stop Note).
Day 2:
Cuzco - Lares - Wakawasi (14000m, 5 hours approx)
In the morning we will take a bus to Lares, CUS. From here, we will begin our 6-hour trek to the tiny village of Wakawasi. There, we will have the unique opportunity to meet local people who live in this beautiful area.
Day 3:
Wakawasi - Patacancha (5562 km)
We will start the day with an uphill 4-hour hike over Ipsayccocha Pass. After lunch, we will continue on for 3 more hours to Patacancha, CUS where we will camp for the night.
Day 4:
Patacancha - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes (50 km)
Today, we will make a visit to a local school (weekdays only) to learn about the education system of the Peruvian Highlands. Then we will walk for 4 more hours to Ollantaytambo, CUS for lunch. From there, we will take a train to Aguas Calientes, CUS, where we will spend the night.

Ollantaytambo, PERU
This small town north of Cuzco is built around an archaeological site. At the height off the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti. It is one of the starting points of the Inca Trail.
Day 5:
Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo - Cuzco (110 km)
We will catch one of the first buses to Machu Picchu so that we may see the early morning light over this amazing place. After a two-hour walking tour, guests will have time to explore on their own. Those who still have energy can climb Huayna Picchu, a mountain in the middle of the ancient town. We will return to Aguas Calientes in the afternoon and from there take a train to Ollantaytambo and then a bus back to Cuzco.
