Although visitors cannot actually go into the Observatory-- which is an active research facility-- a nearby visitor's center offers all of the history of the facilities as well as the opportunity to look through telescopes at the sky. The Observatory notes that "one of the telescopes has a spectrograph and a Coronado H-alpha scope mounted on it so that visitors can view sunspots and stellar spectra during the daytime." Visitors are advised against riding to the very top.
