Today, we will leave Hobart and follow the path of the Derwent River into the lovely Derwent Valley. We should keep an eye out for local birds along the shores of the river as we make our way to New Norfolk, the heart of the valley. Passing through the hop fields of Bushy Park, we will visit Salmon Ponds, the oldest fish hatchery in the Southern Hemisphere. We will enjoy a complimentary morning tea, get the chance to feed the trout and salmon, and visit the museum. Later, we will arrive at Mount Field National Park, where we will begin with a gentle walk through the rainforest and fern glades on our way to the crystal-clear waters of Russell Falls. Guests can get lunch at their own expense in the park before we return to Hobart. They will also have the opportunity to purchase fresh raspberries from roadside stalls, available seasonally.
