Day 1: Madrid Arrival

Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Free time to have our first contact with the city, stroll through its avenues and promenades. In the late afternoon, we will take a tour of illuminated Madrid (during the spring and summer, due to late sunset, visits will still be made in daylight) and the surroundings of Plaza Mayor. Return to the hotel. Optionally, we can taste the delicious tapas in one of the numerous taverns.

It was first built (1580–1619) during the Habsburg period of Philip III's reign. Only a few Spanish blocks away is another famous plaza, the Puerta del Sol. The Plaza Mayor is for the people of Madrid and tourists to shop, walk around, eat, and enjoy the outdoors.

Day 2: Madrid w/ Toledo Option (134 km)

In the morning, we will enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast before embarking on an escorted sightseeing tour, allowing us to see some of the city's most notable attractions, like the Puerta del Sol, the magnificent Fountains of Neptune and Cibeles, stately Alcala Gate, bustling Gran Via, the Plaza de Espana, and the Plaza de Oriente. We will spend the afternoon exploring some of Madrid's famous art museums. In the afternoon, we can embark on an optional tour to the former Imperial capital city of Toledo, where we will be escorted through its narrow cobblestone streets, soaking up the medieval atmosphere while we visit St. Tome Church, where one of El Greco's masterpieces hangs, and the city's beautiful Gothic cathedral.

    This monument is designed in the neo-Classical style, and stands near Madrid's city center, reminiscent of the old medieval gates to the city, although this gate stands alone.

    Puerta del Sol

    The Puerta del Sol is the central point of Spain's radial network of streets, with a plaque marking it as "Kilometer Zero", and one of the busiest parts of the city.

Day 3: Madrid - Merida - Seville (471 km)

We will depart from Madrid after breakfast, traveling through the once-remote region of Extremadura. We will then arrive in the ancient city of Merida, where we will have some free time for lunch before exploring the Roman Theater and well-preserved Amphitheater. Then, we will continue to Sevilla for the evening. In the late afternoon, we can attend a typical flamenco show and taste good Andalusian wine.

Next, we suggest optionally taking a boat ride on the Guadalquivir River. Free afternoon to stroll through this beautiful Andalusian city.

    On the riverbanks of Sevilla, Maria Luisa Park is a large public area that features lovely foliage, fountains, and walkways in the middle of this beautiful city. Within the park are many statues of famous Spanish figures.

    Santa Cruz (Jewish Quarter)

    The barrio of Santa Cruz in Sevilla was once the city's Jewish Quarter, and is now the most popular tourist are in the city. The narrow, winding streets and alleyways of this neighborhood remind visitors of a labyrinth.

    Seville Cathedral

    The third-largest church in the world (and the largest cathedral), the Seville is a massive Gothic building. Each of its facades has multiple entrances that are all exquisitely and ornately adorned. It was built over an old mosque.

Day 5: Seville - Cordoba - Granada (250 km)

After breakfast, we will depart Sevilla for Cordoba, visiting the Mosque-Cathedral, one of the most marvelous religious buildings in the world. Then, we will continue to Granada for the night.

Before we leave Granada, we will go on a guided tour of the amazing Moorish palacae and fortress complex, the Alhambra, seeing the verdant gardens of the Generalife. At midday, we will depart Granada, traveling along the east coast of Spain until we reach Valencia.

Day 7: Valencia - Barcelona (301 km)

This morning, we will enjoy an escorted tour of this beautiful city, passing through Plaza de Espana, we will climb to Montjuic, from where we will have a magnificent panoramic view of the city, the port, and the Olympic Ring. Making our way through the Eixample district and its famous avenue Paseo de Gracia, we will reach the Sagrada Familia, a masterpiece by the architect Antonio Gaudí. We will then have lunchtime and the rest of the day free to explore Barcelona.

Today, we will depart Barcelona and travel through old Aragon into the proud city of Zaragoza make a stop. Continue to Madrid for the night.

  • Tour Accommodations: The tour operator reserves the right, if necessary, to substitute other, similar hotels from those listed. Such substitutions may be made at any time and without prior notice. The tour operator cannot be held responsible for hotel over-bookings. In the event of over-booking, the tour operator will find similar accommodations in the same area.
  • English-Speaking Tour Escort: A professional, bilingual tour director will accompany tours while traveling by motor coach. Most tours will operate in both Spanish and English on the same motor coach. In the unusual event that a group totals less than 15 persons, the tour operator reserves the right to operate the tour in a minibus or private car with a bilingual driver-escort, or by first-class rail transportation.
  • Hotels: Unless otherwise stated, prices are per room and based on one, two or three persons sharing a room, with private bath. A limited number of single rooms are available at additional cost. Triple rooms are not recommended.
  • Meals and Sightseeing: As indicated in the itineraries. Meals do not normally include beverages, except coffee or tea with breakfasts.
  • Passport and Visas: A valid passport is required for United States citizens. Citizens of other countries require a valid passport and may require additional documents. Such persons should contact consulates of countries to be visited and obtain proper documents before departure. The possession of required and valid passport and visas is the sole responsibility of the traveler. The tour operator assumes no liability for lack of proper documents.
  • Baggage: Although airline regulations generally allow, free of charge, a maximum of two bags, the tour operator will accommodate only one normal size suitcase plus one small overnight bag on motor coach tours.
  • Surcharges: A documentation and shipping fee of $25 will be added to all online bookings.
  • Cancellation: Once a partial or full payment has been made, cancellations will only be accepted in writing. Cancellation terms will be applied based on the date that the written cancellation is received and based on the following dates prior to departure:
    Notification day and departure day are not counted
    Cancellations received more than 45 days prior to departure will have a penalty of $50 per person;
    Cancellations received between 45 and 31 days will have a penalty of 25% per person.
    Cancellations received between 30 and 6 days will have a penalty of 50% per person.
    Cancellations received received 5 days or less prior to departure or "no shows" will receive no refund.
    No refund will be made for abandonment of services. No refunds will be made for transfers, city tours or any other services (including meals, accommodations or transportation) voluntarily not taken.
    The refund amount will be credited directly to your TakeTours wallet as credits for future use. Or the refund can also be forwarded directly to your credit card with a 6% handling fee.
  • Insurance: The tour operator highly recommends that each traveler purchase travel and cancellation insurance. Such insurance can be obtained through your travel agent.
  • Changes: Travelers holding confirmed tour or hotel package reservations may request a change of date to another tour or hotel package of equal or greater value. Online changes can be made up to 45 days before departure and are subject to availability. There will be a charge of $25 for such changes if accepted by the tour operator.
  • Responsibility: The tour operator holds itself free of any responsibility for any cause, in all matters connected with hotels, accommodations, sightseeing tours and transportation, whether by air, rail, bus, motorcar, boat or any other means. The tour operator and/or its agents will not be responsible for the loss or damage of any of the traveler's belongings. The tour operator reserves the right to accept or retain any person as a member of a tour at any time. Baggage and personal effects are at the owner's risk throughout the tour, unless insured.
  • Limitations of Liability: The tour operator and its agents act only as agents for the traveler's hotels, restaurants, sightseeing and transportation (such as railroad, aircraft, boat, motor coach, automobile, or any conveyance).
