After guests meet in the central Milan area (please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding when and where to meet), we will embark on a 3-hour walking tour of the city, centered around the historic district of Brera and focused on the cuisine of the city. Here, old world charm meets a trendy, youthful vibe. As we explore, we will learn of the city's colorful history and its transformation over the centuries, from the use of the Navigli canals to the modern business area of Porta Nuova, which will host the 2015 International Expo. Our guide will entertain and educate us with information about the origin of the foods will taste, explaining the processes of preparing the dishes. We will learn how to identify traditional melanzane all Parmigiana (eggplant parmesan), cannoli, Traditional Milanese dish, and some of Milan's artisan beers. We will taste Grappa, appreciating the rich, fruity taste of this drink that has been made since the first century CE. Then we will enjoy culatello (delicious dry-cured ham), Milanese-style meatballs, thinly sliced prosciutto, authentic Italian gelato, and finally topping things off with aperitifs at a trendy art bar, La Bicicletta.
