Overview

After guests have been picked up from the specified departure location, we will begin this tour. Today, we will travel through three centuries of history, legends, and romance in "The City That Care Forgot!" We will start by observing the sights and sounds of the world-famous French Quarter, visiting historic Jackson Square, home of the Cabildo and the Presbytere, both part of the Louisiana State Museum system. Then, we will visit one of the famous St. Louis Cemetaries, referred to as "Cities of the Dead," where we will learn about this unique above-ground bural system, marveling at stories about voodoo and piracy on the Bayou St. John. Going down St. Charles Avenue, we will see the stately mansions, the homes of the former Kings and Queens of Mardi Gras, and the exclusive Garden District. We will get to see parts of the campuses of Tulane and Loyola Universities, which are across from Audobon Park.

Then, we will board the historic Steamboat Natchez, one of six authentic steamboats left on the Mississippi River. Every day, we can enjoy a live Calliope concert onboard. Accompanied by the captain's narration, we will explore the Mississippi Delta, one of the world's busiest ports. Afterwards, we will return to the departure point, bringing an end to this tour. New Orleans, LA

The city known as the "Big Easy" is most famous for its colorful and exciting Mardi Gras celebration. Visitors will marvel at its distinctive Cajun culture and cuisine that is unlike anything else in the world.

French Quarter

The most famous area of New Orleans is also the oldest. Dating back to the city's founding in 1718, this National Historic Landmark district is known for its nightlife, restaurants, and celebrations. Its most famous locale is Bourbon Street.

The Cabildo

During colonial times, this building was the seat of the local government. A national historic landmark, the main chamber is a courthouse. The building is part of one of the Louisiana State Museums.

The Presbytere

This historic building, one of the Louisiana State Museums, was built in 1791 as the residence of the local Capuchin monks. There are two permenent exhibits, one about the history of Mardi Gras, the other about Hurrican Katrina.

Louisiana State Museum

This museum complex in the French Quarter is made up of nine individual museums, each with their own historical significance. The Presbytere and the Cabildo are the most famous of these museums.

St. Louis Cemetery

Three cemeteries in New Orleans share this name because of their unique layout and entombment system: all the graves are above-ground, which is why these cemeteries are nicknamed the "Cities of the Dead."

St. Charles Avenue

This major thoroughfare in New Orleans is famous for the exquisite mansions that line the street in the city's Uptown area. It extends downtown into the New Orleans Central Business District.

Garden District

Once, the area of New Orleans' Garden District was covered exclusively by plantations. Because of its many affluent mansions and historic houses, it is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Tulane University

Originally founded as the Medical College of Louisiana to fight the spread of smallpox and other diseases, Tulane is one of New Orleans' premier private research institutions. It's mascot is the Green Wave and it is in Uptown New Orleans.

Loyola University New Orleans

The campus of this private Jesuit institution lies between that of Tulane University and Audubon Park in New Orleans. Founded in 1904, it is one of the premier Jesuit colleges in the Southern U.S.

Audubon Park

Located directly across from the campuses of Tulane and Loyola Universities, this park in New Orleans is famous for its bird-watching opportunities. It is a wonderfully picturesque place, featuring old oak trees and numerous fountains.

Steamboat Natchez

Take a ride on this old-fashioned steamboat down the Mighty Mississippi River to experience what life was like for someone like author Mark Twain in the 1800s. On Sundays, the boat runs a jazz brunch cruise.

Cruise Substitutions:
We reserves the right to substitute either vessel in place of the other (Steamboat NATCHEZ & Riverboat CITY OF NEW ORLEANS) for any reason, at any time. No refunds will be issued for vessel substitution. In the event of severe weather, unfavorable river conditions including river closures, breakdowns or any other cause beyond our control, the vessel is determined by the captain and unable to make the cruise as scheduled, we will arrange for a dockside event. No refunds for the above conditions.
