The "big board" and headquarters of the NYSE is located at the heart of Wall Street, in a distinctive classical-style building that is both a National Historic Landmark and a member of the National Register of Historic Places. The NYSE was founded in 1817, although it only moved into the current building in 1903, and it is the world's largest stock exchange. The market capitalization of its listed companies was estimated to be $16.613 trillion in mid-2013.
