At one time, there was an actual cave called Cave of the Winds. It was a natural cave located behind the Bridal Veil Falls that was open to tourists in the early 1900s. Visitors could experience winds produced by the falls that reached almost 70 miles per hour, akin to the powerful gusts of a tropical storm. In the 1950s, a rockslide closed the cave off, and now the "Cave of the Winds" is a series of walkways outside.
