The first attempt to light Niagara Falls so it could be seen at night was attempted in the mid-1800s. Although it pales in comparison to today's illumination, the modern version of the light show was established in 1925 by the aptly-named Niagara Falls Illumination Board. Most nights since, the falls have lit up for the enjoyment of people from all over the world.
