Day 1: Port Hardy - Great Bear Lodge

Upon your arrival at this spectacular wilderness retreat, you will participate in your first thrilling wildlife viewing session. In the evening you will enjoy a fresh gourmet meal prepared with the best local produce and seafood available, served with complimentary wine or beer. As well, you will participate in an informative audio visual presentation on the grizzly and its place in the local ecology.

Day 2: The Great Bear Lodge

Today you can schedule morning and afternoon bear viewing sessions coincide with times when the bears are the most active. You will observe the bears as they roam freely in their natural habitat as you float by boat through nearby estuaries or watch from specially-designed optimal viewing areas. Keep a close eye for other possible wildlife sightings such as wolves, otters, bald eagles, black bears, pine martins and mink. Daily guided activities such as boat tours and a popular interpretative rainforest walk are offered between morning and afternoon viewing excursions. Guests arriving in fall will also be able to witness the incredible sight of thousands of migrating salmon from a series of enclosed viewing stands along the river. And you can also watch as the grizzlies hunt for fish in preparation for their coming hibernation.

*The Great Bear Lodge is pleased to promote low-impact ecotourism, using wind and solar power and taking special care not to disturb the bears or their environment.

Day 4: Great Bear Lodge - Port Hardy

On your day of departure you'll participate in a final bearwatching session, followed by a farewell brunch and afternoon activity before being transferred back to Port Hardy in the afternoon (between 16:00 and 18:00).

  • Please independently go to the Port Hardy floatplane dock (6420 Hardy Bay Road) where you check in at the Pacific Coastal Airlines building for your transfer to Great Bear Lodge by seaplane (departure at approximately 15:00).

  • Cancellations and Cancellation Fees
    Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed and pending bookings. Therefore, cancellation penalties and or fees will apply. Time of cancellation will be determined when notice is received and confirmed by our office.   • Cancellation and Refund policy(Notification day and departure day are not counted):
    30-44 days prior to departure - 10% of total purchase amount.
    4-29 days prior to departure - 50% of total purchase amount.
    Within 3 days prior to departure - 100% of total purchase amount.
    Day of departure or no show - 100% per person.
    The refund amount will be credited directly to your TakeTours wallet as credits for future use. Or the refund can also be forwarded directly to your credit card with a 6% handling fee.
  • Currency Fluctuations:
    All tour prices are current at the time of publication and are susceptible to currency fluctuations. We reserve the right to alter the tour price in accordance with changes in foreign exchanges rates and changes in prices for services. The rate that you pay when you reserve your tour will protect you against future currency fluctuations; on the other hand, no price adjust (refund) will be made based upon change in tour prices.
