  • Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL

    Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL
Usually referred to simply as "Rio," this Brazilian coastal city is famous for its annual Carnival celebration. Rio de Janeiro sees millions of tourists every year, more than any other South American city.

    Christ the Redeemer

This statue is, above all else, the main symbol of Rio de Janeiro. Built on the top of Corcovado, a mountain that hovers above the city, the statue depicts Christ with his arms extended in a welcoming gesture.

    Corcovado

The name of this mountain is Portuguese for "hunchback," a reference to the lopsided shape. At the peak lies the Christ the Redeemer statue, the most iconic symbol of Rio de Janeiro.

    Corcovado Rack Railway

This train uses the traditional rack system, a special wheel designed for trains to travel uphill, in order to reach the peak of Corcovado in Rio. It carries passengers from the city below to Christ the Redeemer at the summit.

    Sambadrome

The name given to an exhibition place for the Samba schools parades during Carnaval in Brazil. A sambadrome generally consists of tiered spectator viewing areas surrounding a long alley for the schools to parade down.

Your local guide introduces the spectacle of this 2-mile-wide torrential downpour, with some cataracts as high as 250 feet - it's nothing short of hypnotic!
  • Iguassu Falls, BRAZIL

Iguazu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguazu River on the border of the Argentina province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Parani. • Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA

    Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA
Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina. Its center is the Plaza de Mayo, lined with stately 19th-century buildings including Casa Rosada, the iconic, balconied presidential palace.

    La Boca

One of the most famous barrios (neighborhoods) in Buenos Aires, La Boca is filled with brightly colored houses, tango clubs, Italian taverns, and many theaters. Historically, it has been a haven for radical political movements.

    San Telmo

The oldest of Buenos Aires' barrios, the streets of San Telmo are paved with cobblestone and the buildings have retained their original colonial architecture. Famous for its contemporary art, the city's Modern Art Museum is located in this neighborhood.

    Casa Rosada

This incredible palatial mansion is the official residence for the president of Argentina. Completed towards the end of the 19th century, it is a mixture of Italian and Eclectic architectural styles.

    Metropolitan Cathedral

The Metropolitan Cathedral is located in the very center of Buenos Aires. The architecture of the cathedral is quite notable for eschewing the typical features of Catholic churches: the usual towers, dome and portico are absent here.

    Recoleta

An upscale neighborhood in Buenos Aires, the Recoleta district boasts exquisite architecture and history, and contains several museums and landmarks that detail Argentina's past. The Recoleta Cemetery is a popular stop, particularly the grave site of national hero Eva Peron.

Day 8: Buenos Aires

Standard Hotel: Grand Brizo Hotel

Perhaps take an optional excursion to the heart of the pampas (grasslands) and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of rural, country life at a working Argentine estancia (ranch). You will also enjoy a colorful feast, complete with world-renowned Argentine beef, salad, desserts, local wine, and live music and dance by the gauchos themselves. Top off the day with a horsemanship show by the gauchos before saying adios to the countryside and heading back to the city.
