This triumphal arch in Rome has been standing for nearly 2,000 years. It commemorates the victory of Constantine I at the Battle of Milvian Bridge. It was built with brick and marble, and the carvings in relief along its edges are incredibly intricate. Many arches around the world, from Washington to Paris, have been built in its image. During the 1960 summer Olympics, which were based in Rome, it functioned as the finish line for some of the marathons.
