This nearly 2000-year-old structure is one of the most famous buildings in all of human history. At its height, it could hold up to 80,000 people, and was usually used for gladiatorial contests, executions, and drama productions. The original name of the structure now known simply as, "the Coliseum" was the Flavian Amphitheater, as it was constructed by the emperors of the Flavian dynasty. It is truly a testament to human perseverance and ingenuity.
