The Chinatown in central San Francisco, California is not just a Californian landmark or a US landmark, but an international one. It draws more tourists every year than the Golden Gate Bridge, and has served as the backdrop for movies, books, and television for decades. According to the San Francisco Planning Department, Chinatown is the most densely populated area west of New York, with 100,000 people in a area just over one square mile in size.
