Travel to Hearst Castle
Hearst Castle is a National and California Historical Landmark. The mansion was commissioned by Julia Morgan, the first female architect in California, for William Randolph Hearst in April of 1915. Construction began in 1919 and continued through 1947. Because Hearst was constantly chaning his ideas, the estate was not completed in his lifetime.
According to the landmark's web site, "Hearst Castle featured 56 bedrooms, 61 bathrooms, multiple swimming pools, tennis courts, a movie theater, an airfield, and private zoo."
