Travel to Shakespeare's Birthplace
Believed to be the birthplace and childhood home of playwright William Shakespeare, this 16th-century house and museum has been called, "a Mecca for all lovers of literature." Shakespeare would have lived here from 1564 until about 1574. Although the building isn't anything special from an architectural standpoint, it would have been considered quite large for its time. This is likely because it served as both a home and workshop for William's father, John, who was a craftsman.
